Ran is a lawyer licensed in U.S. (New York, and California) and Canada (Ontario, British Columbia). With a comprehensive background in both the United States and Canada, Ran brings a wealth of expertise to his practice areas, particularly in capital markets, intellectual property and commercial disputes. Ran holds a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology from Nankai University, followed by a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine and a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School.
In the legal domain, Ran has garnered extensive experience in capital markets and commercial, financial and intellectual property disputes. Ran's commercial and financial practice includes representing clients across diverse commercial disputes, encompassing pre-IPO and IPO, financial fraud, commercial, security, shareholder, and real property matters.
Ran provides strategy consultation to consulting firms, venture capital funds and start-ups, with a special focus on biomedical and technology industry. Benefited from a multi-discipline and multi-country background, Ran provides clients with strategy advice that combines innovation, prudence and global perspective.
Ran is a member of Advocates' Society, the New York Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the California Lawyers Association, the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Microbiology. Ran is a Board member for multiple industry organizations. Ran teaches business negotiation and global strategy in law school in Canada and business school in Asia. Ran is a frequent speaker and leader in multiple industry organizations and events in the biomedical, technology and legal industries.
